Internal Medicine Doctor (Internist)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an Internal Medicine Doctor (Internist) to join its Primary Health Care team in Za'atari Camp, Jordan. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality outpatient care for adults with non‑communicable diseases and other chronic conditions in a humanitarian setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide outpatient consultations for diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up of NCDs such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia, asthma/COPD, and thyroid disorders.
• Manage chronic cases, adjust medications, monitor disease progression, and prevent complications.
• Educate patients on self‑management and preventive health measures.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure timely data entry into the Health Information System (HIS).
• Support clinical quality‑improvement activities and adhere to MoH, WHO, and IRC protocols.
• Refer complex cases to specialized services as needed.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent in Internal Medicine.
• Proven experience in outpatient primary care, preferably with refugee or humanitarian populations.
• Familiarity with Jordanian Ministry of Health, WHO, and IRC clinical guidelines.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to work in a resource‑limited camp environment.

Required skills

• Clinical diagnosis and management of diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia, asthma/COPD, and thyroid disorders.
• Proficiency with electronic Health Information Systems (HIS/EMR).
• Medication optimization and chronic disease monitoring.
• Patient education and health promotion.
