RPA Avionics Technician III – Deployment Pool

About the role

The RPA Avionics Technician III will join the Deployment Pool, providing critical support for Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) maintenance across CONUS and OCONUS locations. The role demands flexibility, independent problem‑solving, and leadership of subordinate maintenance personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Apply advanced technical knowledge to resolve complex avionics and electronic issues affecting operational readiness.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of lower‑level avionic technicians, providing training and technical guidance.
• Perform, inspect, maintain, repair, and install organizational and intermediate‑level electronic equipment on RPA systems and support gear.
• Interpret Air Force technical orders, manufacturers’ manuals, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and data tables to execute accurate repairs.
• Utilize common and complex test instruments to diagnose malfunctions and verify system performance.
• Maintain readiness for rapid deployment and adapt to varied work schedules as required.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent military/vocational technical education.
• At least five years of aircraft avionics and Ground Control Station (GCS) maintenance experience.
• Minimum two years of hands‑on experience with MQ‑9 aircraft and its GCS as an Avionics Technician.
• Advanced knowledge of electronics principles, RFF systems, and related technical publications.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and data tables.
• Eligibility to obtain an IAT Level II certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, Security+ CE, SSCP, or GSEC) within 90 days of hire.
