Senior Back-End Engineer

About the role

The Senior Back-End Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain high‑performance, secure backend services for a leading Saudi IT solutions provider. You will work in an Agile/Scrum environment, collaborating closely with frontend developers, solution architects, DevOps, QA, product, and project management teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Laravel/PHP and/or Node.js/NestJS.
• Build and document RESTful APIs, integrate third‑party services, and implement business logic.
• Design, optimise, and query relational (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases using ORMs such as Eloquent, TypeORM, or Prisma.
• Implement caching (Redis) and manage background jobs/queues (Laravel Queues, BullMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Write and maintain automated unit/integration tests (PHPUnit, Pest, Jest) and participate in code reviews.
• Support Docker‑based development, CI/CD pipelines, and Git branching workflows.
• Maintain and enhance Drupal‑based applications when required.
• Apply secure coding practices and address OWASP‑level security concerns.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related field.
• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with PHP/Laravel and/or Node.js/NestJS.
• Deep understanding of OOP and SOLID principles.
• Proven experience designing RESTful APIs and working with relational/NoSQL databases.
• Experience with automated testing, Git, Docker, and CI/CD.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
