Software Development Engineer – Payment Services

About the role

Amazon Payment Services is seeking a seasoned Software Development Engineer to design and build large‑scale, distributed computing solutions that power secure online payments across the GCC and Levant region. You will drive technical direction, shape long‑term architecture, and own major deliverables from concept to production.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers to define strategy, roadmap, and customer‑focused capabilities.
• Partner with engineering peers to create optimal technical designs for new products.
• Champion best practices for software development, documentation, and quality assurance.
• Manage project prioritization, planning, stakeholder communication, and external commitments.
• Ensure operational excellence through monitoring, incident response, and production service reliability.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years designing or architecting scalable, reliable systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Strong background in distributed systems, web services, and high‑availability production environments.

Required skills

• Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Java, C++, Python).
• Design and implementation of fault‑tolerant, highly scalable cloud solutions.
• Full software development lifecycle knowledge, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
