Airfield Management Shift Lead (AMSL)

About the role

The Airfield Management Shift Lead (AMSL) oversees airfield operations during assigned shifts, ensuring a safe, efficient environment for aircraft movements. This position maintains situational awareness, coordinates with multiple agencies, and leads the AMOPS section to support both domestic and international flights.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain situational awareness of all airfield activities and assume overall responsibility for the AMOPS section while on duty.
• Conduct airfield inspections and safety checks, ensuring compliance with planning and design criteria.
• Plan, organize, and direct airfield construction, repairs, ice/snow removal, and bird/wildlife control programs.
• Procure and disseminate flight information publications, aeronautical charts, NOTAMs, and weather data.
• Process domestic and international flight plans and coordinate with base agencies for billeting, mess, refueling, transportation, and transient aircraft maintenance.
• Supervise coordination between air‑traffic control and maintenance personnel, enforce safety procedures, and manage hazardous cargo and live‑fire devices.
• Respond to aircraft emergencies and conduct inspections in accordance with AFMAN 13‑204v2 and AFMAN 13‑24v2.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved DoD/Airfield Managers course or equivalent.
• Minimum four years of aviation experience as aircrew, dispatcher, or flight follower with a 14 CFR Part 121 or Part 135 operator.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Security Clearance (US citizenship required).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US CENTCOM Medical Exam.

• Flight plan processing and aircraft tracking.
• Use of Flight Information Publications, aeronautical charts, and NOTAM management.
• Airfield safety procedures and wildlife management.
• Knowledge of AFMAN 13‑204v2 and AFMAN 13‑24v2 inspection standards.
