Assistant Director of Engineering

About the role

The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the department head in overseeing the building’s engineering operations, budget, and capital projects. This full‑time position ensures safety, security, and asset protection while enhancing guest and employee satisfaction through effective communication and training.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing engineering and facilities budgets, capital expenditures, and preventive‑maintenance programs.
• Supervise day‑to‑day engineering activities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, water‑treatment, and life‑safety systems.
• Coordinate work orders, track contractor performance, and ensure timely completion of repairs and renovations.
• Act as technical liaison for all hotel departments and oversee engineering operations in the Director’s absence.
• Maintain inventories of parts, supplies, and equipment to minimize downtime.
• Support energy‑conservation initiatives and evaluate new technologies for the property.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with 4 years of engineering/maintenance experience, **or** a 2‑year degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, etc., with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical, and plumbing systems.
