Business Manager – South West (18.5 hrs, Permanent)

About the role

The Business Manager will operate across multiple functional areas within the South West region, providing strategic and administrative support to senior leadership. This permanent, part‑time role (18.5 hours per week) is based at several NMS offices and focuses on improving service delivery and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Support senior team members in delivering effective services and meeting operational targets.
• Monitor performance across the functional area, highlight issues, and propose efficiency improvements.
• Act as the primary liaison between senior leadership, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
• Lead initiatives in Information Assurance, Business Continuity, and Workforce Planning.
• Oversee the estate portfolio within the designated remit, ensuring compliance with policies.
• Provide advice, support, and sign‑posting to managers and staff across the function and region.

Required profile

• Experience supporting senior leadership in a public‑sector or civil‑service environment.
• Strong understanding of Probation Service and wider Civil Service policies.
• Ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven line‑management experience, overseeing administrative staff.
