Business Manager – South West (18.5 hrs, Permanent)

About the role

The Business Manager will support the senior leadership team across multiple functional areas within the Probation Service in the South West region. This is a non‑operational, 18.5‑hour per week permanent position that requires liaison between senior managers, internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative and operational support to the Head or Deputy Head of the functional area.
• Monitor performance across the function, highlight issues and drive efficiency improvements.
• Act as the single point of contact for Information Assurance, Business Continuity and Workforce Planning.
• Lead implementation of new procedures and manage a portfolio of key projects.
• Oversee line management of the Diary Manager, Senior Administrative Officers and Case Administrators.
• Ensure effective management of the estate portfolio within the designated remit.

Required profile

• Experience supporting senior leadership in a public‑sector environment.
• Understanding of Probation Service policies and broader Civil Service procedures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence across teams.
• Proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.
