Field Officer – Makawer (National Position)

About the role

The Field Officer will be based in Makawer, Jordan, supporting the RISE project that aims to improve livelihoods and preserve cultural heritage. The role involves coordinating project activities, engaging with local stakeholders, and adapting implementation to the specific context of the area.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as AVSI’s primary contact in Makawer, maintaining regular communication with local authorities, community leaders, and NGOs.
• Lead stakeholder mapping and develop an engagement strategy to build strong partnerships.
• Coordinate with AVSI’s partner FPEC on beneficiary selection and ensure best practices in project delivery.
• Prepare and follow weekly/monthly activity plans, tracking progress against the project calendar.
• Oversee the implementation of activities, working closely with project staff, partners, and local officials to ensure timely and quality outcomes.
• Identify operational risks, propose mitigation measures, and report to the Project Manager.
• Supervise youth staff contracted for community mapping and related tasks.

Required profile

• Residence in Makawer or ability to commute daily to the site.
• Strong understanding of the local socio‑economic context and community dynamics.
• Experience in coordinating development or humanitarian projects.
• Fluency in Arabic; good command of English is an advantage.
