Forward Deployed Engineer – Data Management

About the role

Systems Ltd is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer specialized in Data Management to make enterprise data and knowledge AI‑ready. You will build data pipelines, knowledge graphs, and retrieval infrastructure that serve multiple AI and ML practices across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement AI‑ready data pipelines and reusable data products.
• Create and maintain knowledge graphs, taxonomies, and ontologies that structure enterprise knowledge for AI consumption.
• Own vector and retrieval infrastructure, including embeddings, ANN indexes, and hybrid search solutions.
• Run data quality assessments and remediation focused on AI/ML needs.
• Collaborate with GenAI Engineers, Data Scientists, and AI Architects to expose curated data as reusable assets.
• Explain the difference between BI‑grade and AI‑grade data quality to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Manage competing requests from multiple practices transparently and fairly.
• Document data and knowledge assets for self‑service reuse.

Required profile

• 5–10+ years of data engineering experience, with at least 2 years building AI‑ready data products.
• Proven ability to work as a shared upstream dependency for several engineering teams.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Track record of prioritizing and balancing competing stakeholder requests.

Required skills

• Knowledge‑graph technologies such as Neo4j, RDF, or SPARQL.
• Semantic and ontology modeling.
• Vector/retrieval infrastructure experience (embeddings, ANN indexes, hybrid search).
• Data pipeline engineering tools like Spark, dbt, and Airflow.
• Data quality frameworks and enterprise data‑governance/lineage tooling.
