Health Specialist – Vaccine and Cold Chain Management

About the role

The Health Specialist will support UNICEF’s immunisation priorities by strengthening vaccine supply chains and cold‑chain infrastructure in fragile and middle‑income countries. Based in Amman, the role focuses on improving cold‑chain management, solar electrification of health facilities and healthcare waste management to ensure last‑mile vaccine availability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to country teams on cold‑chain equipment, solar power solutions and waste management practices.
• Support data‑driven decision‑making to optimise vaccine storage, handling and distribution.
• Build capacity of national partners through training, guidelines and best‑practice sharing.
• Collaborate with global partners, donors and governments to align interventions with the Immunisation Agenda 2030.
• Monitor and report on supply‑chain performance, wastage rates and system resilience.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, pharmacy, logistics, engineering or a related field.
• Relevant professional experience in immunisation supply chains, cold‑chain management or health system strengthening, preferably in fragile or middle‑income settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural, multi‑partner environments.
