Hydraulic Engineer – Flood Protection (Southern Expansion Project)

About the role

Haskoning is seeking a Hydraulic Engineer to join the Southern Expansion Project for the Arab Potash Company in Jordan. The role focuses on designing and developing flood‑protection works within a complex wadi system, translating hydraulic boundary conditions into robust, constructible solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and detail river‑training and hydraulic protection works, including diversion dikes, bank protection, revetments and channel stabilisation.
• Convert hydraulic inputs (discharges, water levels, velocities, sediment behaviour) into feasible design solutions.
• Collaborate with in‑house hydraulic modellers to iteratively improve designs.
• Prepare and review design calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
• Assess rock gradings, filter layers and geotextiles against hydraulic loading.
• Provide technical input on erosion, scour and related hydraulic risks and propose mitigation measures.
• Support limited review of contractor submissions to ensure design intent.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams such as geotechnical, structural and environmental specialists.
