Indirect Tax Accountant – U.S. Sales Tax (Jordan)

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Indirect Tax Accountant to join our finance team in Amman. The role supports our U.S. operations by preparing sales‑tax refund claims, filing returns and ensuring compliance across multiple states. You will work closely with accounting and operations to improve tax reporting and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file U.S. sales‑tax refund claims and returns.
• Reconcile sales‑tax receivable and payable accounts.
• Analyze invoices for correct tax treatment and review supporting documentation.
• Maintain accurate tax records and communicate with state tax authorities as needed.
• Prepare reports and reconciliations using Microsoft Excel.
• Assist with VAT/GST matters for international operations when required.
• Support tax audits and respond to information requests.
• Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to enhance compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or indirect tax.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and U.S. sales‑tax regulations.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work the evening shift (3 PM – 12 AM Jordan time) Monday‑Saturday.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with QuickBooks or other ERP accounting software.
• Knowledge of U.S. sales‑tax compliance and VAT/GST concepts.
