MEAL Assistant – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning

About the role

Habibi Association, a civil society organisation founded in Italy in 2013 and active in several Middle Eastern countries, implements projects supporting refugees and vulnerable members of host communities in Jordan, with particular attention to women, young people and persons with disabilities. It is seeking a MEAL Assistant to support monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning activities across its projects, ensuring the quality and effective use of project data. The role reports to the MEAL Officer and works closely with Project Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of project MEAL plans and monitoring tools, including logical frameworks, monitoring plans, indicator tracking tables and project databases.
• Help design, adapt and digitise data collection tools, disaggregating data by sex, age, displacement status, disability and other vulnerability criteria.
• Carry out field visits to project sites in Amman, Zarqa, Maan, Mafraq, Madaba, Ader and Petra to monitor progress and verify results.
• Support baseline, midline and endline assessments, post-distribution monitoring and beneficiary satisfaction surveys.
• Contribute to data cleaning, validation and Data Quality Assessments, and analyse data to prepare monitoring and donor reports.
• Support needs assessments and new project proposals, and help establish and manage Complaints and Feedback Mechanisms (CFMs).
• Contribute to identifying trends and lessons learned, and provide technical support to project teams and partners on MEAL tools and reporting.
• Take part in internal and consortium meetings and collaborate with project managers, partners and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Social Sciences, Political Science, International Relations, International Cooperation, Statistics or a related field.
• At least two years of relevant experience in MEAL activities, preferably in development or humanitarian projects.
• Advanced proficiency in Arabic and proficiency in English, written and spoken.
• Valid driving licence and ability to drive in Jordan; willingness to travel regularly to project locations outside Amman.

Required skills

• Practical experience with MEAL frameworks, indicator tracking tools, digital data collection and project databases.
• Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative data collection, cleaning, validation and data quality assurance, and report writing.
• Familiarity with Complaints and Feedback Mechanisms (CFMs) and accountability to affected populations.
• Good command of IT tools and standard office software; KoboToolbox or similar software is an asset.

What we offer

• Fixed-term contract of 12 months, duty station Amman, expected start December 2026 / January 2027.
• Gross monthly salary of JOD 850-950 depending on qualifications and experience.
