MEAL Manager – National (Syria) – 30% Field Visits

About the role

Save the Children is seeking a national MEAL Manager for Syria to lead monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning across its programmes. The role will be based in one of the major operational cities (Damascus, Aleppo, Raqqa or Qamishli) and will involve at least 30 % field visits to project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain MEAL systems in line with SCI strategies, quality benchmarks and child‑friendly, age‑gender‑diversity lenses.
• Lead project reviews, evaluations, budgeting, recruitment and reporting for all Syria programmes.
• Support proposal writing, logframe design and target setting together with technical advisors.
• Provide technical assistance to partners and coordinate with MEAL Coordinators to ensure consistent data collection and analysis.
• Capture and disseminate contextual lessons learned, linking them to SCI learning and research agendas.
• Oversee rollout of secure data‑management systems at field level and ensure compliance with data protection policies.
• Maintain the accountability function of the MEAL department, including child safeguarding reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing MEAL functions in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Willingness and ability to travel to field locations for at least 30 % of working time.
• Strong understanding of child safeguarding and gender‑inclusive programming.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
