Municipal Planning, Cultural Heritage & Tourism Specialist

About the role

The Sustainable Research and Development Center is seeking a specialist to support a programme that links cultural heritage and tourism with inclusive local economic development in Jordan. The role focuses on gender‑responsive planning, municipal capacity‑building and the promotion of both tangible and intangible heritage.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise on municipal planning, local development, cultural heritage and sustainable tourism throughout the programme evaluation.
• Review and assess programme approaches related to cultural heritage promotion, tourism planning, municipal capacity‑building and local economic development.
• Evaluate the relevance and effectiveness of programme support to municipal institutions and local stakeholders.
• Analyze strategies for strengthening tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

Required profile

• Proven experience in municipal or local development planning.
• Background in cultural heritage management and inclusive tourism.
• Experience with gender‑responsive planning and women’s economic empowerment initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to work with municipal authorities and local stakeholders.
