National Procurement Specialist

About the role

The National Procurement Specialist will support FAO’s mission in Jordan by managing day‑to‑day procurement operations. Reporting to the FAO Representative and the National Professional Officer (Administration), the specialist ensures that all purchases comply with FAO rules, policies and the United Nations procurement framework.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement procurement activities for FAO Jordan in line with FAO regulations, including MS 502.
• Receive, consolidate and evaluate procurement requests from projects and internal units.
• Prepare tender documents, conduct market research, and manage bidding processes.
• Monitor contract performance, ensure timely delivery of goods and services, and maintain accurate procurement records.
• Provide procedural guidance and training to staff and project teams on procurement rules and best practices.
• Ensure transparency, accountability and risk‑smart procurement throughout the office.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics or a related field.
• Proven experience in public‑sector or international organization procurement.
• Strong knowledge of UN/FAO procurement regulations and procedures.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an asset.
