Payroll Accountant – Audit & Assurance

About the role

Deloitte is hiring a Payroll Accountant in its Audit & Assurance practice in Amman. The role covers payroll administration and processing, payroll record maintenance, payroll budgeting and reporting, and supporting external and internal audits.

Key responsibilities

• Execute payroll policies and procedures and process monthly payroll so employees are paid on time and accurately
• Verify pay slips, resolve salary and pay discrepancies, and handle employee expense and claims queries
• Maintain employee accounts for personal deductions and keep payroll records up to date in ERP software
• Reconcile payroll figures, prepare and report monthly MIS, and supervise accurate data records
• Prepare final settlements for separated staff and maintain employment records
• Prepare and update the payroll budget, reconcile headcount for new joiners and leavers, and calculate cost rates
• Handle UAE pension scheme records and prepare payroll reconciliation templates and reports for external and internal audit, including ICV requirements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
• 2+ years of practical hands-on experience
• Fluent in English
• Knowledge of GCC labor laws
• Professional, approachable conduct, able to work independently and under pressure
• Attention to detail, analytical, and able to escalate matters when needed

Required skills

• Advanced Excel is a must
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus
