Senior Research Officer – Multi‑Sector Needs Assessment (MSNA)

About the role

The Senior Research Officer will join the Global MSNA Team within the Research Systems Unit, based in Amman. The role supports the scaling and improvement of Multi‑Sector Needs Assessments (MSNAs) across humanitarian crises, with up to 20% travel for field deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the expansion of the Global MSNA Team and align activities with country teams and the Global Data Team.
• Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of MSNAs in line with the Humanitarian Planning Cycle.
• Enhance data‑management processes to make MSNAs faster, easier, and more cost‑effective by 2028.
• Ensure high‑quality, unbiased data collection, analysis, and reporting for humanitarian decision‑making.
• Collaborate with partners, NGOs, and UN agencies to integrate satellite imagery and GIS data into assessments.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in humanitarian research, data collection, and multi‑sector needs assessments.
• Proven ability to work in multicultural, high‑pressure environments and manage cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time for field missions.
