Software Development Engineer II

About the role

MENA Alliances is looking for a Software Development Engineer II to join a team delivering large-scale, distributed computing solutions in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. The role suits experienced developers who enjoy designing robust systems and tackling complex technical challenges. It is a full-time, on-site position based in Amman, Jordan.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of advanced distributed systems, shaping long-term architecture and driving key technical decisions.
• Design, develop, test and deploy scalable software that improves durability, performance, cost-efficiency and security.
• Write clean, high-quality code for distributed systems and backend infrastructure.
• Apply software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing automation and continuous integration.
• Take ownership of key projects from architecture through delivery.
• Work with engineering teams to define roadmaps and provide technical leadership.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (internships excluded).
• 4+ years in system design and architecture focused on scalability, reliability and performance.
• Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade systems.
• Preferred: 4+ years managing the full software development lifecycle, including version control, testing, code reviews, CI/CD and deployment.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Required skills

• Strong coding skills in at least one modern language such as Java, C++ or C# with object-oriented design.
• Preferred: experience with Python, TypeScript, JavaScript and .NET.
