Chief Engineer

About the role

The Chief Engineer leads the engineering department of Movenpick Resort Petra, ensuring all hotel facilities operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest service standards. This senior position oversees mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems while driving energy efficiency and supporting both guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, recruit, train and develop the engineering team, assigning tasks and managing daily shifts.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, repairs, and day‑to‑day operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
• Prepare and manage the department budget, control maintenance costs, and optimise energy and water consumption.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and fire regulations, conducting regular inspections and acting as the primary contact during emergencies.
• Manage capital projects, renovations and upgrades, coordinating with external contractors to meet timelines and budgets.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading an engineering team in a hotel or resort environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Ability to manage budgets, control costs and monitor energy consumption.
• In‑depth understanding of health, safety and fire‑safety regulations.
• Experience overseeing capital projects and coordinating with contractors.
