Customer AI Engineer

About the role

Our client, a YC‑backed AI startup, is looking for a Customer AI Engineer to act as the technical bridge between enterprise customers and the product. This hands‑on role involves direct customer interaction, troubleshooting, and delivering code improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact, responding quickly to customer queries and owning end‑to‑end resolution.
• Lead technical onboarding, guiding enterprise customers through setup, configuration, and integration with tools such as Zendesk, Intercom, HubSpot, and others.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex issues in live customer environments.
• Ship code – implement fixes, integration enhancements, and small features directly in the Node.js/TypeScript codebase.
• Collaborate with product engineering to share customer context, escalate systemic problems, and help prioritize roadmap items.
• Develop deep platform expertise in AI agents and prompt engineering to advise customers on optimizing support operations.
• Document recurring issues, solutions, and integration patterns to strengthen internal knowledge bases.

Required profile

• 2‑3+ years of strong software engineering experience with Node.js and TypeScript, delivering production code.
• Hands‑on experience with AI agents and prompt engineering.
• Previous customer‑facing technical work such as onboarding, debugging integrations, or similar in a SaaS environment.
• Good understanding of helpdesk APIs (Zendesk, Intercom, HubSpot) or ability to learn quickly.
• Fluent English with strong written and spoken communication skills for video calls with enterprise stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑moving startup and across US, EU, MENA, and GCC time zones.
