HSE Expert – Renewable Energy Projects (Jordan & Middle East)

About the role

Mercados Aries International (MAI) is seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Expert to support lender technical advisory services for solar PV, wind and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across the Middle East, with a focus on Jordan. You will work across the full project lifecycle, from technical due diligence to operation and maintenance performance assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical due diligence and pre‑construction reviews for renewable energy projects.
• Monitor construction activities, perform site inspections and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
• Assess operation and maintenance performance and provide recommendations.
• Prepare and deliver HSE monitoring reports to lenders, sponsors and contractors.
• Collaborate with international lenders, project sponsors, EPC and O&M contractors to enforce ISO 45001, IFC and World Bank HSE guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience, with at least 3 years in energy or construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of international HSE standards such as ISO 45001, IFC and World Bank guidelines.
• Proven experience in technical advisory, construction monitoring or due diligence.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
