Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Consultant & Specialist

About the role

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Consultant & Specialist is a full‑time, on‑site position in Amman, providing advanced clinical care to critically ill adult patients. You will lead patient assessment, develop individualized treatment plans, and ensure delivery of evidence‑based care within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, stabilize, and manage critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Monitor vital signs, laboratory results, imaging and hemodynamic data.
• Perform ICU procedures such as airway management, ventilator support and central venous access.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and update families on patient status.
• Participate in clinical governance, protocol development and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Train, mentor and supervise junior medical staff and allied health professionals.

Required profile

• Medical degree with residency in Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, Pulmonology or related specialty.
• Formal training and board certification in intensive care/critical care medicine.
• Valid professional licence to practice in Jordan.
• Several years of experience managing adult ICU patients.
• Strong diagnostic interpretation skills (laboratory, imaging, hemodynamic monitoring).
• Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention and protocol adherence.
• Experience in teaching and supervising junior staff.
