About the role
The Mechanical Design Engineer will develop detailed mechanical designs for UNRWA building projects, including schools, hospitals, clinics, shelters, warehouses and rehousing initiatives. The role reports to the Electro‑mechanical Design Lead Engineer and supports both internal and external candidates.
Key responsibilities
- Produce detailed mechanical designs for various building projects in line with UNRWA policies, design criteria, standards and local/international codes.
- Prepare tender documents for mechanical works, including specifications and Bill of Quantities.
- Research emerging materials and technologies, incorporate green and safety elements, and propose cost‑effective solutions.
- Provide technical advice and special designs for alterations, write technical reports and building system inspection reports.
- Liaise with construction teams to resolve design issues, update as‑built drawings and maintain technical instructions.
- Coordinate with other designers to optimise designs, recommend improvements to standards and procedures.
