Shelter Technical Assistant – Zaatari Camps, Jordan

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a Shelter Technical Assistant to support its Shelter Programme in the Zaatari refugee camp, Jordan. The role involves planning, supervising and monitoring shelter construction, maintenance and rehabilitation activities to improve living conditions for refugees.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily shelter construction, maintenance and rehabilitation ensuring compliance with technical specifications, BoQs and safety standards.
• Monitor performance of volunteers and skilled labourers, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and to quality standards.
• Conduct assessments such as caravan repair evaluations and prepare status reports for management.
• Collect and analyse engineering data, prepare drawings, schematics and specifications, and recommend technical solutions.
• Ensure proper documentation filing and promote continuous improvement ideas.
