WordPress Specialist – Remote

About the role

GTECH builds and maintains a large portfolio of WordPress websites for brands across the Middle East. We are looking for a hands‑on WordPress Specialist who can own a site from design through front‑end and back‑end development, turning approved designs into pixel‑accurate, responsive builds and adding custom functionality where needed. The role requires a native Arabic speaker to create and QA right‑to‑left (RTL) layouts and bilingual Arabic/English sites.

Key responsibilities

• Convert approved design files (Figma, Adobe XD, PSD) into responsive, pixel‑perfect WordPress themes.
• Build and customise themes and child themes, handling front‑end (HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript) and back‑end (PHP, WordPress APIs).
• Develop custom functionality such as custom post types, taxonomies, and fields using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF); create or extend custom plugins.
• Implement and maintain Arabic/RTL and bilingual sites, ensuring correct RTL layouts, Arabic typography, and multilingual setups (WPML, Polylang).
• Work with page‑builders (Elementor, Gutenberg) and decide when to code custom solutions.
• Set up and maintain WooCommerce stores when required.
• Optimise sites for speed, Core Web Vitals, responsiveness and cross‑browser compatibility.
• Apply WordPress security best practices and keep core, themes, and plugins up‑to‑date.
• Handle site migrations, staging‑to‑live deployments, backups and basic hosting/DNS tasks.
• Debug and resolve theme, plugin and performance issues across the portfolio.
• Use Git for version control and collaborate within a shared workflow.
• Coordinate with designers, project managers and the SEO team to ensure builds are on‑brief, on‑time and SEO‑friendly.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hands‑on WordPress development experience, preferably in an agency or multi‑site environment.
• Native Arabic speaker (read & write) with the ability to build and QA Arabic/RTL and bilingual websites.
• Strong English communication skills for team collaboration.
• Solid front‑end expertise: HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript (and jQuery), responsive design.
• Strong back‑end expertise: PHP, MySQL, WordPress theme & plugin APIs, hooks and filters.
• Hands‑on experience with ACF, custom post types, custom fields, and multilingual plugins.
• Proven ability to turn design files into clean, faithful, responsive WordPress builds.
• Experience with WooCommerce and page‑builder tools.
