Workplace Wellbeing Coordinator – Prison Setting

About the role

The Workplace Wellbeing Coordinator will be based at HM Prison Frankland in Durham and will report to the Head of Business Assurance. This non‑operational role focuses on implementing and supporting a comprehensive welfare and wellbeing framework for prison staff.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver the local reflective practice model to improve staff resilience, confidence and retention.
• Ensure trained reflective practitioners are released for scheduled sessions and monitor attendance with People Hub/Detail.
• Promote PAM reflective sessions and drive improvements through the Wellbeing Committee.
• Collaborate with TRiM, Mental Health Allies, the Care Team and Safer Custody colleagues to provide post‑incident support.
• Organise wellbeing events, maintain the local wellbeing calendar and deliver wellbeing inductions for new starters.
• Work with managers to deliver wellbeing awareness sessions and contribute to the Supporting Each Other Framework.
• Provide specialist advice on staff absences and mental‑health concerns, linking to external support where needed.
• Coordinate the fitness testing programme and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to enhance staff wellbeing.

Required profile

• Experience in coordinating wellbeing or welfare initiatives within a public‑sector or similar environment.
• Strong collaborative skills with the ability to engage senior leaders, governors and external partners.
• Excellent communication and advisory abilities to support staff and managers.
• Ability to manage multiple wellbeing programmes and events without line‑management responsibilities.
