Back-end Developer (Python) for eUNRWA

About the role

The Back‑end Developer will join the eUNRWA application team, handling day‑to‑day development, design, testing, deployment and integration of web solutions that support UNRWA operations. Working from Amman with the option to work remotely, the consultant will ensure high‑performance, secure and scalable services throughout the software lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web applications using React for the front‑end and Python/Django for the back‑end.
• Design, implement and document RESTful APIs and integrate third‑party services.
• Ensure application security, performance and scalability across environments.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to deliver responsive, user‑centric solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, well‑documented code following best practices.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems to improve functionality and reliability.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and user manuals.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and provide regular progress updates.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of full‑stack development experience.
• Fluency in both English and Arabic.

What we offer

• Monthly remuneration of JOD 1,190.44 (or equivalent in USD).
• Fixed‑term consultancy until the end of the year with possible extension.
• Flexibility to work onsite in Amman or remotely for UNRWA operations.
