Chief Accountant

About the role

COSCO Jordan is seeking a Chief Accountant to lead its accounting department, ensuring accurate financial operations and compliance with Jordanian regulations and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy and timely follow‑up on all accounts and balances, including payables and receivables.
• Manage company funds, cash, daily transfers, deposits, guarantees and other banking matters.
• Prepare, review and control detailed budgets, costs and expenses.
• Supervise vessel disbursements, revenues and expense recording.
• Calculate and process monthly payroll, coordinating Social Security enrollment and employee insurance with HR.
• Produce and submit financial reports and statements as required by management and principals.
• Apply financial KPIs set by headquarters.
• Maintain financial procedures and internal controls in line with tax law, Social Security and other governmental requirements, continuously reviewing and improving controls.
• Prepare special reports for regulatory authorities.
• Supervise and evaluate accounting staff performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Professional certification such as CPA, CMA or membership in the Jordanian Association of Certified Public Accountants (preferred).
• Proven experience as a Chief Accountant, Senior Accountant or Finance Manager, preferably in shipping, logistics or freight forwarding.
• In‑depth knowledge of Jordanian Income Tax Law, Social Security regulations and IFRS.
• Strong experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and leadership abilities.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
