Data & Analysis Consultant – Climate, Conflict & Child Displacement

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Data and Analysis Consultant to support a report on the intersections of climate hazards, conflict, and child displacement across selected PROSPECTS countries. The consultant will work with technical leads, partners and other writers to analyse historical and future displacement data and produce clear visualisations and evidence for policy recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and harmonise historical displacement, climate and demographic data, ensuring age‑sex disaggregation and avoiding double counting.
• Analyse future disaster displacement‑risk model outputs and explain assumptions and limitations.
• Use GIS and transparent spatial methods to map convergence of climate hazards, conflict, displacement and child populations, producing publication‑ready maps and charts.
• Conduct desk research to interpret quantitative findings and draft methodological and evidence sections of the report.
• Provide a hand‑over package with documented workflows, code, metadata and limitations.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (Master’s) in geography, demography, statistics, data science, environmental science or related field.
• At least five years of experience in displacement data analysis, geospatial analysis or risk modelling, with demonstrated age/sex disaggregation and handling of uncertainty.
• Excellent written and verbal English.

Required skills

• Strong GIS proficiency (ArcGIS or QGIS).
• Reproducible analysis skills using R or Python.
• Clear data visualisation capabilities.
