Data Center Engineer

About the role

VTEL Holdings Limited – Jordan is seeking a Data Center Engineer to join its Aqaba team. The role involves operating, maintaining, and optimizing the company’s smart data‑center infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain data‑center infrastructure including servers, storage, racks, UPS, PDU and cooling systems.
• Monitor the data‑center environment 24/7, respond to alerts and incidents promptly.
• Perform hands‑on installation and commissioning of hardware such as servers, switches, patch panels, and fiber/copper cabling.
• Organize racks, cabling and equipment labeling for optimal physical layout.
• Maintain power, cooling and environmental systems, conducting preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Support basic networking tasks including VLAN configuration, IP addressing and cable patching.
• Log incidents and tasks in the ticketing system and generate regular availability, capacity and performance reports.
• Coordinate with vendors for hardware maintenance, replacements and ensure physical security and access control procedures are followed.
• Keep documentation of assets, configurations and layouts up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• BSc in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Electronics or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in data‑center operations or a similar role.
• Good understanding of data‑center infrastructure (racks, UPS, PDU, CRAC units, structured cabling).
• Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, VLANs, switching, routing).
• Ability to work in shifts, including night shift.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good communication skills in Arabic and English.
• Residence in Aqaba.
