Design Manager - Solar PV Engineering

About the role

Philadelphia Solar, a solar energy company manufacturing photovoltaic modules and mounting structures, is looking for an experienced Design Manager to join its team in Amman, Jordan. The role leads engineering design activities, oversees technical teams and ensures efficient, accurate and high-quality designs for solar energy projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering design team across multiple solar projects.
• Oversee the design and engineering of commercial, industrial and utility-scale solar PV systems.
• Review and approve technical drawings, engineering calculations, design specifications and project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with international standards, technical regulations and project requirements.
• Supervise PV system layouts, electrical designs, equipment selection and technical optimization.
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical support during tendering, procurement, installation and commissioning.
• Develop design standards, quality control procedures and engineering best practices.
• Improve system efficiency, optimize project costs and manage design schedules and deliverables.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10-12 years of engineering and design experience, preferably in solar or renewable energy.
• Proven experience managing engineering design teams and complex technical projects.
• Experience with commercial, industrial and utility-scale solar projects is highly preferred.
• Strong technical leadership, project coordination and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Solar PV system design and electrical engineering principles.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst and other industry-standard design software.
• Knowledge of international technical standards.
