HSSE Manager for Terminal Upgrade Project

About the role

The HSSE Manager will lead the Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental framework for a major terminal upgrade project at APM Terminals, part of Maersk. Reporting to the Project Leadership Team, this role ensures safe execution of construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the Project HSSE Management Framework in line with APM Terminals standards and legal requirements.
• Provide governance, assurance and independent challenge across all project activities, including audits, inspections and incident investigations.
• Identify, assess, manage and control HSSE risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Drive contractor and supplier HSSE performance, embedding HSSE requirements in contracts and scopes of work.
• Support emergency preparedness, permit‑to‑work coordination and safe transition to operational readiness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Security Management, Engineering or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 7 years of HSSE leadership experience on large capital, infrastructure, industrial, logistics, port or construction projects.
• Proven ability to lead HSSE programs, conduct risk assessments and manage incident investigations.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of HSSE regulations, standards and industry best practices.
• Experience with HSSE audit, inspection and assurance processes.
• Ability to develop HSSE plans, KPIs, targets and performance reporting.
