Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Microbiology (Non‑tenure Track)

About the role

The Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University seeks a dedicated educator for a 9‑month renewable, non‑tenure‑track Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in Microbiology. The role focuses on undergraduate instruction with an emphasis on environmental microbiology, including soil, marine, industrial, and bioremediation topics.

Key responsibilities

• Teach in‑person undergraduate courses such as Soil Microbiology, Marine Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, and Introductory Microbiology.
• Design and deliver effective course content aligned with the candidate’s expertise.
• Assess student learning, provide constructive feedback, and maintain regular office hours.
• Utilize the Canvas learning management system for course management.
• Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve the undergraduate experience.
• Participate in departmental service and broader academic activities.
• Potentially teach online M.S. courses, summer sessions, or study‑abroad programs.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Microbiology or a closely related field preferred; Master’s degree with significant teaching experience also considered.
• Strong commitment to inclusive, engaging learning environments.
• Interest in expanding environmental microbiology offerings.
• Willingness to contribute to departmental service and community outreach.
