Purchasing Officer

About the role

The Purchasing Officer supports Marriott International’s food and supply operations in Amman by managing inventory, processing invoices, and ensuring timely, accurate deliveries. This role combines hands‑on inventory control with administrative duties to keep the kitchen and related areas well‑stocked and compliant with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate figures for food inventories, orders, and costs.
• Maintain organized records, file reports and invoices, and post invoices using computer programs.
• Conduct inventory audits, complete requisition forms, and notify supervisors of low stock levels.
• Verify and track received inventory, reconcile shipping invoices with receiving reports, and generate inventory logs.
• Receive, unload, and process deliveries; reject damaged or incorrect items.
• Troubleshoot vendor delivery issues and oversee the return process.
• Adhere to food safety and handling policies; monitor PAR levels for all food items.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions; complete required safety training.
• Communicate professionally, answer phones, and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related experience in procurement, inventory, or food service.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific license or certification required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer programs for invoicing and inventory tracking.
• Experience using point‑of‑sale (POS) or similar inventory management systems.
