Assistant Chief Engineer I

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer I supports the Director of Engineering in overseeing the building and grounds of a hospitality property in Aqaba, Jordan. The role focuses on safety, security, asset protection, and delivering high guest and employee satisfaction through effective communication and training.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise distribution and tracking of repair work orders, ensuring timely and quality completion.
• Assist in planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, water‑treatment and life‑safety systems.
• Manage the physical plant, including equipment selection, ordering, and installation.
• Provide 24/7 emergency response, operate generators and fire pumps, and perform equipment repairs as needed.
• Maintain accurate logs, records, and inventory of supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
• Support budgeting, capital expenditures, and energy‑conservation initiatives.
• Lead and train engineering staff and contractors, ensuring compliance with property policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with 4 years of engineering/maintenance experience, **or** a 2‑year degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related field with 2 years experience.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Proven ability to supervise staff and manage contractor relationships.
