Assistant Director of Engineering

About the role

The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director in overseeing the hotel’s engineering and maintenance operations. This full‑time position ensures the safety, security, and functionality of the building, grounds, and all mechanical systems while driving guest and employee satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise distribution and tracking of repair work orders and ensure timely, quality completion.
• Plan, schedule, and evaluate preventative maintenance programs for all plant equipment.
• Manage the physical plant, including HVAC‑R, refrigeration, plumbing, water‑treatment, electrical, and life‑safety systems.
• Operate generators and fire pumps and provide 24/7 emergency response.
• Inspect facilities, maintain accurate logs, and coordinate repairs or renovations.
• Assist the Director in budgeting, capital expenditures, and energy‑conservation initiatives.
• Order and purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings as needed.
• Train staff on safety procedures and promote excellent customer service.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 4 years of engineering/maintenance experience, **or** a 2‑year degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related field with 2 years of experience.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical, and plumbing systems.
