Design Engineer – BIM Modeler for Substation Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer with strong BIM modelling expertise to support substation projects. The role involves creating and maintaining detailed Revit models, ensuring compliance with BIM standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate design information.

Key responsibilities

• Produce discipline‑specific BIM models according to the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and Task Information Delivery Plan (TIDP).
• Develop models to the required LOD/LOI at each project stage (Tender, Design, Construction, As‑Built).
• Populate models with accurate geometry, attributes, parameters, and metadata.
• Perform self‑checks and ensure models comply with structure, classification rules, naming conventions, and shared parameters before publishing to the Common Data Environment (CDE).
• Publish and update models in the CDE following the workflow (WIP → Shared → Published).
• Support the BIM Coordinator with model federation, clash detection, and issue resolution.
• Implement design changes accurately, maintain version control, and keep information containers consistent.
• Coordinate with BIM Coordinator, Discipline Leads, and project engineers, participate in coordination meetings, and deliver project deliverables on schedule.
• Generate bill of quantities/materials directly from the model when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5‑6 years overall experience with 3‑4 years focused on BIM processes.
• Strong modelling skills in Revit and exposure to Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).
• Ability to produce and interpret layouts, drawings, specifications, and EIR requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of LOD/LOI concepts, BIM standards, and staged information delivery.
• Discipline in following defined processes, workflows, and naming/versioning conventions.
• Experience with substation layouts (AIS/GIS), equipment arrangement, earthing, cable routing, and related civil guides is an advantage.
