Duty Engineer (Maintenance & Safety)

About the role

The Duty Engineer is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality and appearance of hotel facilities. Working on‑site in Amman, you will ensure all equipment, tools and systems operate reliably and comply with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances and equipment.
• Calibrate controls, gauges, meters and identify/operate shut‑off valves.
• Order, label, stock parts and manage inventory and purchase‑order logs.
• Inspect tools, machines, fire‑pump, generator, sprinkler valves and alarm systems; complete life‑safety checklists.
• Assist in developing disaster‑response protocols and respond to guest repair requests.
• Operate power lifts and use computer systems to record work‑related information.
• Support management in hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating staff.
• Follow all company safety, security and confidentiality policies.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 2 years of related engineering or maintenance experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• No specific license or certification required.

Required skills

• Preventive maintenance techniques.
• Calibration of instruments and gauges.
• Inventory management and parts ordering.
• Fire‑safety testing (pump, generator, sprinkler valves).
• Power lift operation.
• Computer‑based maintenance tracking.
