Grants, Subaward, Contracts Advisor

About the role

IREX is seeking a Grants, Subaward, and Contracts Advisor to support its Higher Education for Innovation and Growth (HEIG) activity in Jordan. Reporting to the Finance and Operations Director, the Advisor will manage day‑to‑day financial operations of grants, subawards, and contracts, ensuring compliance with IREX, donor, and U.S. Government requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead subaward solicitation processes, preparing award packages, grantee agreements, and supporting documentation for donor review.
• Manage subaward start‑up, modifications, and closeout; maintain the online grant‑tracking system and ensure complete, compliant award records.
• Serve as senior point of contact for grantees and implementing partners, providing guidance on award requirements, reporting, and compliance.
• Conduct periodic field visits and follow up on implementation or documentation matters.
• Oversee compliance for all subawards and contracts, monitoring budgets, financial records, and grant reporting.
• Coordinate environmental compliance monitoring and support audit, evaluation, and donor review documentation.
• Provide technical guidance on grants, subawards, contracts, and compliance to program, finance, procurement, MEL, and technical teams.

Required profile

• Experience in grants, subaward, or contract management within an international development or nonprofit context.
• Strong understanding of donor, U.S. Government, and organizational compliance requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with program staff, partners, and stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of grant‑tracking systems and financial monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with budgeting, financial reporting, and audit processes.
• Understanding of environmental compliance monitoring.
