Infrastructure Specialist

About the role

The Infrastructure Specialist provides strategic technical advisory and coordination support to infrastructure Project Managers across the full project lifecycle at the UNOPS Hub in Amman. This role ensures that all infrastructure projects comply with UNOPS standards, governance frameworks and performance objectives while fostering effective coordination and knowledge sharing.

Key responsibilities

• Offer strategic technical advice to Project Managers from feasibility and design through construction and hand‑over.
• Ensure project activities meet UNOPS quality requirements, standards and performance targets.
• Support planning, coordination and monitoring of infrastructure activities to achieve timely and cost‑effective delivery.
• Guide the development, implementation and oversight of infrastructure‑related plans in line with UNOPS policies and international standards.
• Assist Project Managers with feasibility studies, needs assessments and preliminary design work.
• Promote quality assurance and quality control throughout project execution.
• Adhere to UN security policies, occupational health and safety procedures, and relevant administrative instructions.

Required profile

• Experience providing technical advisory support to infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with UNOPS standards, corporate rules and international infrastructure guidelines.
• Understanding of security management, occupational health and safety (OHS) procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑cultural teams and multiple stakeholders.
