Operations Officer

About the role

The Operations Officer ensures efficient vessel and cargo handling at the port, acting as the main liaison between ship masters, authorities, and internal teams. The role guarantees compliance with port regulations, company policies, and client requirements while maintaining smooth vessel turn‑around.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for vessel masters, providing 24/7 communication and daily status updates.
• Verify and manage all pre‑arrival documentation, submit required information to Port State Control, and maintain regulatory records.
• Supervise loading and discharging operations, approve stowage sequences, monitor cargo quantities, and estimate completion times.
• Coordinate bulk cargo sampling, crew changes, and logistics for cruise, military, and commercial vessels.
• Prepare and submit cargo documentation, certificates, and statements of service; archive all communications.
• Liaise with customs, immigration, port authorities, and arrange tugboats, pilots, and clearance certificates.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of maritime regulations and port procedures.
• Excellent communication skills for continuous interaction with ship masters and stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple vessels simultaneously and handle time‑critical operations.
• Detail‑oriented approach to documentation, reporting, and compliance.
