Senior Mechanical Engineer – Technical/Design

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides high‑level technical and engineering support for mechanical building‑services works, ensuring that all designs, shop drawings, BIM models, calculations, technical submissions and as‑built documentation are accurate, coordinated, compliant with project requirements and ready for construction.

Key responsibilities

• Review mechanical designs, drawings and technical documents for compliance with contract requirements, specifications, BOQ, international codes, local authority rules and approved material selections.
• Independently assess shop drawings, provide justified comments, verify that they reflect the approved design intent and identify any discrepancies, omissions or constructability issues.
• Evaluate design changes, assess technical impact on systems, interfaces, cost and schedule, and support construction teams in resolving site issues and RFIs.
• Perform and verify mechanical engineering calculations such as cooling‑load, chilled‑water flow, pump head, duct sizing, pressure‑loss, ventilation, static‑pressure, pipe sizing, equipment capacity, heat‑exchanger and boiler calculations.
• Review calculations submitted by consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, highlighting any technical inconsistencies.
• Review and coordinate mechanical BIM/Revit MEP models, conduct clash detection, resolve identified clashes and ensure proper coordination with architectural, structural, electrical, fire‑life‑safety, BMS/controls and other MEP disciplines.
• Check plant‑room and equipment‑room BIM models to confirm sufficient space for installation, operation, maintenance and access.

Required profile

• Senior‑level engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in mechanical building‑services design and coordination on large‑scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of international codes, standards and local authority requirements.
• Ability to work independently, solve complex technical problems and provide clear guidance to construction teams.

Required skills

• Mechanical design and shop drawing review.
• BIM/Revit MEP modeling and clash detection.
• Mechanical calculations (cooling‑load, chilled‑water flow, pump head, duct sizing, pressure‑loss, ventilation, static‑pressure, pipe sizing, equipment capacity, heat‑exchanger, boiler).
