Senior Software Engineer – Amman

About the role

We are looking for a senior backend engineer to join our new in‑house engineering team in Amman. You will work directly with the Head of Engineering to design, build, and operate consumer‑facing fintech systems from concept to production.

Key responsibilities

• Design and ship backend services using TypeScript and NestJS on PostgreSQL, Redis, and event‑driven infrastructure.
• Build and maintain core fintech features such as payment flows, wallets, cashback, and search/discovery.
• Own the full delivery lifecycle: API design, deployment, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement.
• Leverage AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor) daily to increase productivity and set best‑practice standards.
• Contribute to engineering standards, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and testing practices as the team scales.

Required profile

• 5–6 years of backend engineering experience, with at least 4 years using TypeScript/Node.js.
• Proven track record building B2C consumer products at scale, preferably in fintech or payments.
• Strong system‑design mindset focused on MVP delivery and iterative improvement.
• Effective communicator comfortable discussing trade‑offs with engineers and product stakeholders.

Required skills

• TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS (dependency injection, guards, interceptors, pipes, filters).
• PostgreSQL, relational database design, and ORM experience (Prisma or similar).
• Redis for caching, sessions, and pub/sub.
• Event‑driven architecture and message queues (e.g., SQS).
• Search engines such as Typesense or Elasticsearch.
• Testing frameworks: Jest, Supertest, Testcontainers.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions, containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes literacy.
• Observability tools like Sentry.
• Daily use of AI coding assistants (Claude, Cursor).
