Diploma Civil Engineer - Materials Testing

About the role

The Arab Center for Engineering Studies (ACES), a leading specialized engineering company in the Middle East offering site and geotechnical investigations, materials testing, quality control, surveying and environmental testing, is looking for a Diploma Civil Engineer to join its team in Amman, Jordan. The engineer issues testing reports, coordinates construction testing with technicians and clients, and ensures all testing follows the required specifications. The position reports to the HUB Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the section's policies, goals, objectives and procedures, and support the Senior Engineer and Department Manager in operations, transition and migration plans.
• Follow up laboratory tests of construction materials such as soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, steel, tile and kerbstone, and analyze test data to prevent non-conforming products.
• Set materials testing schedules, supervise testing technicians and prepare and initially check material testing reports before submission to the Materials Department Manager.
• Receive and inspect material samples, ensure proper storage and record storage conditions, curing and ambient temperature; prepare a bi-weekly sample disposal schedule.
• Prepare MS and special test reports with the Senior Civil Engineer and Department Manager, and communicate results to the Department Manager, client, contractor and others.
• Ensure tests follow standard test methods and customer requirements, and that site equipment is calibrated and maintained and that safety regulations are followed in the lab.
• Monitor daily productivity of data entry reports and perform other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 0-2 years of experience in civil engineering.

Required skills

• Building codes (ACI, UBC, SBC) and specifications.
• Testing methods (ASTM, BS, AASHTO, ANSI, CIRIA) and local or international standards.
• Basic technical and laboratory skills, measurement, mathematics, statistics and data analysis.
• ISO 17025/9001/45001/14001 requirements, materials science and materials testing procedures.
• MS Word and MS Outlook.
