Health and Safety Officer (Water & Irrigation Projects)

About the role

Hussein Atieh & Sons Co. (HAE) is seeking two experienced Health and Safety Officers to support water supply, irrigation and Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) projects across the MENA region. You will ensure that all site activities comply with HSE plans, legislation and contractual requirements while promoting a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with the Project HSE Plan, safety procedures, applicable legislation and contractual requirements.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections, identify unsafe acts, conditions and potential hazards.
• Prepare and assist with risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Oversee safe execution of excavation, confined space entry, lifting operations, work at height, traffic management and work near existing utilities.
• Ensure workers and subcontractors use required PPE and follow approved safe work procedures.
• Report safety violations, incidents, accidents and near‑misses; track corrective and preventive actions.
• Assist in accident investigations and recommend preventive measures.
• Deliver HSE induction, safety awareness and toolbox training to project personnel and subcontractors.
• Monitor emergency preparedness, participate in drills and maintain accurate HSE records, reports and statistics.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including at least 4 years in a similar HSE role on water supply, wastewater, irrigation or TSE projects.
• Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
• Strong communication, reporting and training abilities.
