Lead Electrical Engineer – Electrical Subcontract Lead

About the role

The Electrical Subcontract Lead is responsible for managing electrical subcontractors and construction packages across power projects. You will ensure that all electrical works are planned, coordinated, executed, tested, and completed in line with project schedules, contractual requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage electrical subcontractors/I&C from mobilization through construction, testing, completion, and close‑out.
• Oversee subcontracted works including HV/MV/LV systems, transformers, switchgear, cable installation, cable trays, grounding, lighting, electrical equipment installation, DCS, low‑current systems and instrumentation.
• Review subcontractor execution plans, manpower, equipment, schedules and construction methodologies.
• Monitor progress and productivity against approved schedules and project milestones.
• Coordinate with Construction, Engineering, Planning, QA/QC, HSE, Contracts, Commercial, Procurement and Commissioning teams.
• Ensure works follow approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project procedures.
• Identify constraints, interface issues, delays and performance concerns and drive corrective actions.
• Verify subcontractor progress and completed quantities, and manage electrical interfaces with civil, mechanical, I&C, grid/substation and commissioning activities.
• Support testing, energisation, punch‑list clearance, system turnover and handover to commissioning.
• Maintain compliance with project HSE and quality requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10–12 years of relevant experience, preferably in EPC construction projects.
• Previous experience as Manager, Construction Manager, Subcontract Manager or equivalent.
• Strong background in power plant/CCGT, substation, transmission or major industrial power projects.
• Good understanding of construction contracts, progress measurement, variations, claims and subcontract administration.
• Excellent leadership, coordination, negotiation and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficient command of English.
