Backend Development Intern

About the role

Petra Ride is seeking a Backend Development Intern to assist the technical team in building, maintaining, and enhancing backend services, APIs, and database operations within a live product environment. This role offers hands‑on experience with real‑world transportation platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and maintenance of backend services and APIs.
• Write clean, structured, and reusable code.
• Work with databases to store, retrieve, and update data.
• Test, debug, and troubleshoot backend issues.
• Assist integrations between internal systems and third‑party services.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and technical teams to understand requirements.
• Document technical work when needed.
• Follow coding standards, security practices, and development workflows.

Required profile

• Basic understanding of backend development concepts.
• Familiarity with at least one backend language or framework (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, PHP).
• Basic knowledge of APIs, databases, and server‑side programming.
• Understanding of SQL or NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub is preferred.
• Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and work in a team.
• Currently studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field (preferred).
