Commis II – Food Preparation Specialist

About the role

The Commis II supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. This full‑time position is based at Marriott International’s property on Al‑Hashemi Street in Aqaba, Jordan.

Key responsibilities

• Portion, chop, wash, peel, and store fresh fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes and quality standards.
• Prepare and cook cold and hot foods, following presentation and food‑preparation checklists.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Test food for proper doneness and monitor quality throughout preparation.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in correct portions, and maintain proper receptacles.
• Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives, and equipment after each shift.
• Check appliance and food temperatures to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Report maintenance needs, accidents, or unsafe conditions to the manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related kitchen or food‑service experience.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and carrying up to 25 lb.
• Willingness to follow all company safety, security, and confidentiality policies.
